On November 29, 2024, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) published a notice that it has amended several Indian standards. This is an exercise done in the enactment of Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. The amendment is primarily done to bring existing standards up to par with current industry needs and current technological changes. The notice shall also provide a schedule identifying the affected standards, their effective dates, and the corresponding standards being withdrawn.

  • IS 13561:2024: Specification for ear-shaped nylon travellers for ring doubling and twisting (first revision).
  • IS 14294:2024: Method for determining apparent opening size by dry sieving technique in geotextiles (first revision).
  • IS 14714:2024: Determination of abrasion resistance in geotextiles (first revision).
  • IS 18877 (Part 2):2024, (Part 3):2024, and (Part 4):2024: Codes of practice for laboratory instruments used in CBM evaluation.
  • IS 18966:2024: Rules for drafting and presentation of safety standards in machinery.
  • IS 18997:2024: Effective produced water handling treatment methods.

Date of Establishing: The amendments were established on November 26, 2024, and are going to be in force till May 17, 2025, or till withdrawn or amended.
