On September 12, 1974, the Kerala State Pollution Control Board was founded as a regulatory body to carry out various pollution control regulations. The board is dedicated to giving the people of Kerala State a clean environment. To control pollution, the Board has conducted numerous investigations on the soil, water, and air below ground.
The Board is authorized to carry out the duties of the State Pollution Control Board for all States under Section 4 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1974 and Section 6 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1981. All State Pollution Control Board duties are delegated to the Pollution Control Board (PCB), which has this authority. However, Section 4(4) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1974 and Section 6 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1981 provide that the PCB may delegate all or any of its powers and functions as a State Board under the said Acts to such person or group of people as the Central authority may deem appropriate.
