MPEDA Registration

The MPEDA Authority was come into force by an act of Parliament during 1972. Marine Products Export Development Authority is given the order to promote the marine products industry with special reference to exports from the country.

Registration of Fishing Vessels, Exporters, and other Processing entities is one of the statutory functions of MPEDA under the MPEDA Act, 1972.

What is the Need of MPEDA Registration?

MPEDA Registration is required to check marine products, its raw material, fixing standards and specifications, regulating as well as to take all necessary steps for maintaining the quality of seafood that are marketed overseas. An Exporter Registration with Marine Products Export Development Authority is a mandatory requirement under MPEDA Act, 1972.

Who can opt for MPEDA Registration (Export/Import)?

Application for registration as a manufacturer exporter of marine products shall be made to the concerned authority. The application shall be submitted with registration fee of Rs.200/- and application fee of Rs.5000/-.

Documents Required for Merchant Exporter Registration

Merchant Exporter is an exporter who utilizes the surplus capacity of a processing plant or handling facility but does not own or operate a Processing Plant or handling facility and their name has been underwrite on the certificate of registration of processing plant or handling facility.

• Should submit bank guarantee up to 15 lakhs for 5 years for enforcing liability.
• Registration certificate as an exporter issues to Merchant Exporter.
• Agreement letter for utilization of surplus capacity of Processing Plant and Handling Facility.
• Agreement letter with owner of the Processing Plant or Handling Facility.

Route through Merchant Exporter

Route through Merchant Exporter can be Trading House, Star Trading House, Export House or Super Star Trading House approved by the DGFT.

Ornamental Fish Exporter

Ornamental Fish Exporter is that who can only export ornamental fishes (Barbs, Danio, and Gourami etc.)

Documents Required for Processing Plants Registration 

Processing plant is a building build as per the standards laid down by the MPEDA and approved by the Inter Departmental Panel. Application form for the registration of a processing plant obtained and submits to registering office having jurisdiction over the location of the plant with a registration fee of Rs. 200/-.

• Plant layout
• Declaration from the unit
• To run such a processing unit permission from the Local body is mandatory
• Copy of Title deed (certified)
• Clearance Certificate from the PCB 
• Names & addresses of owners/Partners/Directors/Trustees etc. 
• Machinery list
• Other documents if required

Storage Premises

Application form for the registration of a storage plant obtained and submitted to concerned Regional / Sub-regional Offices, Registration fee of Rs. 200/- has to be submitted to Trade Promotion Office having jurisdiction over the location of Storage Premises.

Fishing Vessels

Fishing Vessels is a boat or a ship used to catch fish. Three copies of duly filled registration form have to be submitting to the concerned authority. 

• Layout or blue print of the vessel showing deck area.

Conveyance

Application form with a fee of Rs. 1500/- has to be submitted to the concerned authority under whose jurisdiction the registration certificate issued by the local Transport Authority is indicated.

Fresh/Chilled Handling Center

Application registration form with a fee of Rs. 200/- has to be obtained & submitted to the concerned authority having jurisdiction over the location of the establishment. A copy of the standards prescribed for fresh/chilled fish handling center has to be submitted with the application.

Premises for Handling Live Fish

Application registration forms with a fee of Rs. 200/- has to be obtained & submitted to the concerned authority having jurisdiction over the location of the establishment. A copy of the standards prescribed for handling live fish has to be submitted with an application. 

Establishment for Handling and Packing of Dried/Salted Marine Products

Application registration forms with a fee of Rs. 200/- has to be obtained & submitted to the concerned authority having jurisdiction over the location of the establishment. A copy of the standards prescribed for dried/salted marine products handling establishment has to be submitted with the application.
