SPCBs/PCCs are established as per the provisions under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. They undertake activities in order to protect the environment and prevent pollution. To preserve and protect the environment and also keep a check on environmental degradation, MoEF&CC framed various rules and guidelines for the management of Hazardous Waste, Biomedical Waste, Recycled Waste, Noise Pollution, Municipal Solid Waste, E-Waste, used batteries, etc. CPCB has delegated powers to the SPCBs/PCCs to implement the various Environmental Laws in their respective jurisdiction.
