Guidelines on registering imported cosmetic products were released by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

As per the Cosmetic Products guidelines:
- Brand - In these guidelines, a "Brand" refers to each type of cosmetic product listed in Column 3 of the categories table below.
- Each application must be accompanied by a payment of $250 or the equivalent amount in Indian rupees for each brand and category of cosmetics as specified in Column 3 of the table.
- If an applicant wishes to include another brand or product from an already registered category in an existing valid Registration Certificate, the importer must submit a separate application. However, there will be no charge this time. In these instances, the approved category in a Registration Certificate will receive additional product authorization.
- With regards to the critical document power of Attorney, it is necessary to include a list of all cosmetic products and their corresponding trade names and brands from Column 2 of the table. Additionally, it must display variations such as color, tint, package sizes, etc. Moreover, the cosmetic product names should align with those specified in Form 42.
