What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is the state of fulfilling our present needs without compromising the capability of future generations to meet theirs. Derived from the Latin term “sustinere” which means "to hold up" or "to support"-, sustainability leads to the balance between three, widely recognized, key areas: the environment, society, and the economy. It considers nature and pollution protection from an environmental point of view. From a social viewpoint, equity and a greater quality of life for all are the basics. Economically, it pursues growth with stability that would not be harmful to future generations. 

By integrating these aspects, sustainability makes sure the actions of today are responsible and conducive for both people and the planet, preserving resources and opportunities for future generations. Such a holistic approach motivates choices in support of long-term health and prosperity for all and seeks harmony in human activities concerning the natural world.
