What is AYUSH Unani License?
AYUSH Unani Medicine is considered the science and art of healing. It is a noble profession of healing the suffering of humanity. The system is popular in society because of its unique approach to preventive and curative aspects of health care. It has got mass acceptance as one of the complementary medical systems.

History of AYUSH
The Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH health care systems. Earlier it was known as the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003, which focused attention for the development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
If you are interested in Ayurveda medicine manufacturing or Herbal License, you have to take a license from AYUSH, but if you are only dealing with selling Ayurveda medicine you don’t require an AYUSH license also. To set up an Ayurveda clinic and panchakarma centre, you need to be a registered Ayurveda practitioner.
Objectives:
- To upgrade the educational standards of Indian Systems of Medicines and Homeopathy colleges in the country.
- To strengthen existing research institutions and to ensure a time-bound research program on identified diseases for which these systems have an effective treatment.
- To draw up schemes for the promotion, cultivation, and regeneration of medicinal plants used in these systems.
- To evolve Pharmacopoeia standards for Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy drugs.
