In India, Used Cooking Oil is practically unavailable as most frying oil is used until the end. It cannot be imported or exported.

Other non-edible oils are used to manufacture soap and are unsuitable due to their high Free Fatty Acid content.

Warning: The quality of Used Cooking Oil and Acid Oils can be low as some cheaper products may be adulterated with them. This leads to a lower yield of Biodiesel. The price of these raw materials should be Rs. 20 less than the price of Diesel at the pump.

• Methanol

99% purity product is required. Recovering is not favoured. Mostly imported from Gulf countries like Qatar (which are rich in Natural Gas)

Potassium or Sodium Hydroxide Flakes: 90% pure material (no Moisture) is required. Available from Chlorine-Alkali manufacturing plants.

• Sale of Products

The Biodiesel plant should have a Depot of Oil Marketing Company near the city where the manufacturing plant is located.

Crude Glycerine should have local dealers who buy crude (80%) glycerine.
