The Plastic Waste Management Rules prescribe EPR Compliance for Plastic Waste generated from plastic packaging products and sheets. The producers, importers and brand owners of these plastic products need to recycle plastic waste as per their yearly EPR target. But there are cases when some producers recycle plastic waste more than their annual EPR target while on the other hand, there are also some producers who are unable to recycle their annual EPR target. To deal with the situation, there is a provision to trade EPR Credit for Plastic Waste and transfer them from one producer to another. In this manner, total recycled waste is distributed among the producers as per the availability of EPR Certificates.

Who are Plastic Recyclers?
Plastic recyclers are business entities that recycle collected plastic waste of various types. This waste can be collected from the producers directly or from any third party. As producers need to complete their EPR target every year they do collect plastic waste and transfer it to the plastic waste recycling plant. These recyclers then recycle this waste and provide an EPR Certificate for successful recycling of the waste provided by the producers.
