In compliance with the terms of the Water Act of 1974, the Gujarat Government established the Gujarat Pollution Control Board on October 15, 1974. With improved management solutions, the GPCB strives to work towards the improvement of the environment to prevent and control pollution in the State of Gujarat. Although the Board's primary duties have remained those of regulation, it occasionally organizes various awareness campaigns on regional issues like water, air, and land pollution brought on by different industrial clusters, as well as domestic sewage, bio-medical wastes, and plastic issues. To reduce and avoid pollution while also promoting sustainable development, efforts are being made in the area of pollution control. The BIS- Bureau of Indian Standards, Delhi, has registered the GPCB, Head Office, and Gandhinagar under the Quality Management Systems.
