The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974's section 4 was first used to create the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, which went into operation on December 15, 2001. Currently, it has an elected chairman, fifteen chosen members, and a member secretary who has been appointed. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1974, and the Rules framed under the first and third Acts by the State Government and those framed under the second and fourth Acts by the Central Government are all in force in the State.
The provisions of these Acts and Rules are put into effect in the State by the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.
