PESO License

The Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) is a central-level Nodal agency that was established on September 5, 1898, and is primarily responsible for the administration and regulation of hazardous substances such as bio-chemicals, petroleum, gas cylinders, and explosives that have their own importance but pose a risk to human lives. The PESO organization operates under the policy of guaranteeing "Safety First" in line with the powers granted to it by the regulations set out below:

Apart from this, given below are the primary functions performed by the PESO Organization on the basis of their applicability:-

• To carry out the duties delegated in the Explosives Act of 1884 and the Petroleum Act of 1934, as well as the rules enacted thereunder, in relation to the manufacture, import, export, transportation, possession, sale, and use of hazardous substances, bio-chemicals, bio-fuels, and compressed gases.
• Providing operational and technical support to the Central government, State government, local governments, law enforcement agencies, industry, trade, and end users of these goods.
• Maintain the dedication to openness and efficiency.
• To reach the objectives, it develops an alert, innovative, and well-trained workforce.
• In order to tackle future difficulties, embrace learning and change.
• Ensure public safety by regulating and controlling operations such as the manufacturing, importation, transportation, storage, and handling of hazardous substances, biochemicals, biofuels, and compressed gases, among others.
• Developing public safety standards in partnership with the BIS, OISD, and other apex bodies, as well as coordinating Indian and foreign standards on a national basis.
• Within the scope of the Explosives Act of 1884 and the Petroleum Act of 1934, and the laws enacted thereunder, evaluation of innovative technologies finding uses in hazardous areas for acceptance in indigenous conditions.
• Raising public knowledge of the dangers of dangerous chemicals and explosives.

PESO's aims and duties are being carried out through its headquarters in Nagpur, Maharashtra, as well as offices in Agra, Bhopal, Chennai, Faridabad, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Vadodara, and their subordinate sub-divided offices around the country.

PESO Registration Online

The Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organisation of India registration, or PESO certification, is a necessary clearance scheme for the oil and gas sector or items that deal with gases, are utilized in the oil business, or must survive very corrosive conditions.

For explosion-proof items, there is a simple rule to follow: any products that require IECEx or ATEX certification also require PESO.

All items that have IECEx or ATEX certification, in general, require PESO. Please be advised, however, that due to the typically more harmful nature of the items covered by PESO, organizations wishing to have their products approved must exercise greater caution. For example, historical and predicted future sales data, as well as other commercial information such as existing clients or client evaluations, might be requested.

• Issue of the PESO license to the Authorized Indian Representative (AIR)

Aside from the application materials, the authority wants to know about the producer, its Indian representative (AIR), the products/components, the plant, and commercial information. Please be informed that, like with most other Indian certifications, a resident Indian candidate is required (Authorized Indian Representative, AIR). For the Indian representative, PESO has additional criteria. On the one side, the representative must be technically certified and trained for your product; on the other hand, the AIR must make a 5-year contractual commitment. The AIR can be offered in a variety of methods, including through your own Indian subsidiary or sales office, or through third-party service providers. On-site acceptance and potentially even tests in India may be necessary for more sophisticated circumstances. In any event, the documents must be up to date with the most recent requirements and should be no more than two years old. In addition to the traditional PESO certification, individual approval can be carried out in India in select situations. This is more cost-effective, and the paperwork needs are also reduced, according to experience. The items and components approved under individual approval, on the other hand, can only be utilized in the context of the project for which permission was given. As a result, this sort of certification is ideal for enterprises that only wish to transport limited amounts of goods to India in a single shipment.

The product can be imported once the PESO license has been approved. Internationally recognized test reports, such as IECEs or ATEX, are typically accepted by the authorities. In any event, if you don't have these test results, the items must be evaluated in India.

The validity of a PESO certificate is two years, after which it must be renewed. PESO licences for static pressure vessels are only valid for three years and must be renewed after that. Post-Compliances after Obtaining PESO Licence
