BIS Implements 151 Steel Standards in Latest Quality Control Order to Elevate Steel Standards in India

BIS_-_CORPSEED.webp

The Indian government has taken a significant step toward quality improvement of the steel that will be used in the country. Recently, the BIS added 151 standards created for steel to the Quality Control Order, meaning all imported or domestically manufactured steel must now comply with the newly added standards. The target is to provide people with safe and quality steel products.

Increasing Scrutiny on Imports of Steel

Keeping unsafe quality steel away from India has been done by the government, which is keeping checks on all such steel coming to India from any other country. This extra caution keeps people from using unsafe things. All, local and international manufacturers, should have a license in BIS if they want their steel to sell in India as they follow this kind of rule if not, their steel cannot be sold here. This principle, therefore, aims to ensure only good quality steel is readily available in shops for buildings and important projects.

Strategic Development for the Steel Sector

Apart from quality, the government is keen to strengthen and make the Indian steel industry more competitive in the world. A special group has been established to develop a plan called the India Steel Global Outlook Strategy. This plan will concentrate on four major areas:

  • Raw materials: Improving sources of making steel.
  • Investments: Bringing in more money into the steel industry.
  • Technology collaboration: Working with others to share new ideas and technologies.
  • Market access: Helping Indian steel reach more countries.

Through discussions with many people in the steel industry, a plan will be drafted in detail. This plan will help India be a major player in the world's steel market while maintaining quality standards at home.

These actions show that the government cares about steel quality in India. Following such new standards and strategies, the hope is to benefit everyone with quality and safe products of steel.
