The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL), established in 1955 by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India is a non-profit organization registered under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. In order to boost the country’s plastic export and to project country’s image as one of the leading exporters of high-quality plastic products in the world, PLEXCONCIL has been set up.
PLEXCONCIL is the apex body of plastic industry in India and represent exporters who manufacture/trade in plastics products ranging from plastics raw materials to semi-finished and finished items.
Taking facts into consideration, Products from the Indian plastics industry are exported to over 200 countries across the globe including top destinations like Italy, Germany, and United Kingdom in Europe; Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya in Africa; Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka in South Asia; Viet Nam and Indonesia in ASEAN; along with China and the United States of America.
To promote export of plastics, Indian companies who are working in the same sector and the council undertakes various activities and steps including facilitating Indian companies to showcase their products across the world.
International Exhibitions
These exhibitions are set up worldwide to promote the growth of plastic industry of India across the world and to showcase the Indian plastic industry all over the world. Some exhibitions are Plastico Brasil, Domotex, Ambiente, Paper World, etc.
Seminar/Workshops
The council conducts seminars and workshops for the exporters or for the members of council to make them understand market across the globe and nuances of International Trade and get expert guidance on matters like GST, currency risk, trade policy etc.
Trade Delegation
The council in its vision to promote export of plastic products facilitates Indian companies to be a part of trade delegations to foreign countries by holding B2B meeting with buyers overseas. Generally, this is done in consultations with Indian missions abroad.
Buyer Seller Meet / Reverse Buyer Seller Meet
The Council to promote export of plastics products undertakes Buyer Seller Meets and Reverse Buyer Seller Meets for facilitating business between Indian companies and overseas buyers. For the past few years, the council has been inviting several buyers across the world to visit India and engage in B2B discussions, thereby immensely benefiting the Indian plastics exporters.
