EPR Authorization is mandatory for Set Top Boxes

This electronic device works with television sets. Set-top boxes convert the audio and video signal received from the antenna to display on the television screen. These are codified as CEEW8 and classified as e-waste under the E-Waste Management Rules of 2022. If any producer or manufacturer is distributing set-top boxes in the market, they will transform into e-waste after the end of the product's life. Through the E-Waste rules, CPCB implements a mechanic into the system which makes these producers liable for this generated e-waste. They need to get EPR Authorization for Set-top boxes before production and thereafter recycle, refurbish or dispose of the waste generated from them. The liability of e-waste processing depends on the quantity of the items distributed from them in the recent year.
